Awesome Aardvarks Take First Place in Spelling Bee

The Awesome Aardvarks won the school spelling bee, scoring a total of 387 points over the Busy Beavers 370 point second place. The Aardvarks were presented a trophy of encyclopedic flowers during the award ceremony.

Attending parents and classmates cheered as the Aardvarks finalized their win by successfully spelling "sesquipedalophobia" after the Beavers misspelled "apiphobia" in round 17.

Ms. Schubarth stated that she is "exceptionally proud" of her Aardvarks and of all the spelling bee participants.

Zoo Adventure - Volunteer Opportunities

It's time for the Awesome Aardvarks to go on our annual field trip. This year, we're going to the Zoo. Students need to be at the school no later than 8:00am on Thursday, November 22, 2012. I will collect signed permission slips promptly at 8:05am and we will board the bus at 8:15am. Lunch will be provided. Each student may bring a small amount of money for souvenirs from the gift shop, if desired. If you are interested in joining us on our Zoo Adventure, there are chaperone spaces available. Please leave a comment to this post if you'd like to volunteer. We will return to the school at 2:00pm. Students will go home by bus or parent pick-up following standard school procedure. Please be sure to fill out the permission slip completely, including the portion regarding allergies and emergency contacts.
